I am a 72 yr old male.i am getting desperately tired of trying to get off the fentanyl patch for my pain.i keep having to take more than is prescribed because of the constant hot weather.this is no game with me,i want to get off of fentanyl.i have reduced from 75 mg down to 25 but this has taken me a year.i just can,t keep going
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Fentanyl patch is a synthetic opioid, and a few patients will have significant withdrawal. Muscles aches, sweating, nausea can be blunted by coming off slowly. I suggest you to reduce your dose more slowly. Other options include Suboxone, and other medication that help to lessen withdrawal.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
