How Will I Know If Part Of My Internal Incision Opened Up?

Hello. I am 4 weeks postpartum C section. There was a small opening on my incision and it hasn t been oozing or anything, but earlier I noticed what looked like an ingrown hair and pulled it except it was some of my stitches. I ended up pulling (effortlessly) about 3 inches of stitches out through this hole. There was no pain, no blood on the outside, and I put a bandaid over the opening now. My concern is with how much of the stitches came out. How will I know if part of my internal incision opened up or if there s another problem?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a wound gaping. As there is no wound infection no antibiotics is required. You can apply Steri Strips across the wound edges to get faster wound healing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
