I am 37 weeks pregnant and I am too anemic to be induced I am 37 weeks pregnant, and the doctor and midwife say I am too anemic to be induced, how will my body cope with the natural onset of labour and birth ?
In pregnancy as a routine iron suppliments are prescribed to prevent anaemia. Have iron regularly and add blood forming diet in your meals have lot of green leafy vegetables and fruits. Pomegranate jaggery and beet root are leading blood forming agents.

Anemia during pregnancy is a common finding. Acceptable Hb in pregnancy should be above 11 mg%
If found less in early days of pregnancy depending upon severity Oral/inectable iron/hematinics given. In later days for anemia as per severity oral/injectable iron/hematinics or Blood transfusion given.
Anemia may cause developmental defects in fetus as low birth wt and health disturbances in mother. This may cause severe bleeding during and after labour. In India in less developed areas maternal deaths are seen due to heavy bleeding during and after labour most potent cause of which is anemia.
