Hurt Fingers While Bending, Heard Crack, Swelling Gone Down, Painful Yet. Should It Be Checked ?
A week ago I tripped and put my hand down to keep from hitting my head. It was my fingertips that hit and 3 of my fingers bent all the back until I heard them all crack. I went to the hospital and they said nothing was broken and it would take a week or so for the swelling to go down. The swelling is almost gone, but it still hurts when I try to close my fingers into a fist, and I still have trouble gripping anything. Is this normal or should I be having it checked further?
The trauma that you experienced may have resulted in soft tissue damage to muscle, tendons or ligaments. The xray would have ruled out any fractures.
You may want to consider the use of anti inflammatory pain killers to reduce any inflammation present. This would also minimise the pain and allow you to exercise the joints so that they do not become stiff.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic The trauma that you experienced may have resulted in soft tissue damage to muscle, tendons or ligaments. The xray would have ruled out any fractures. You may want to consider the use of anti inflammatory pain killers to reduce any inflammation present. This would also minimise the pain and allow you to exercise the joints so that they do not become stiff. Examples of anti inflammatory pain killers are ibuprofen, aspirin, diclofenac, celebrex. I hope this helps
