Hello,
Sleep disturbance, breathlessness and dryness of mouth all suggest that her hypertension and diabetes is uncontrolled.
Uncontrolled diabetes, uncontrolled hypertension and uncontrolled hypothyridism can cause havoc on the Heart, kidneys, eyes, nerves, blood vessels etc.
There is no reason why these can not be controlled.
You must consult a internal medicine specialist, get all the necessary investigations carried out and then get the required and proper treatment done.
Mind it,timely control of all these can prevent so many complications, like strokes, heart attacks, retinal hemmorhage etc.
Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum,
Since , she is having hypertension, diabetes, thyroid problems 7 years and getting treatment.
You stated in query there is no relief.
Since , what treatment , your mother is having?
Whether diabetes is under control or not ?
Sleep disturbance , breathlessness, dry mouth may be due to diabetes or menopausal syndrome.
At this age there are certain hormonal changes as estrogen level decreases, while F S H increases.
This imbalance of hormone develops these symptoms , which you mentioned in query.
Consult another physician and get his opinion about heart involvement , if any , as hypertension is not under control.
Hope I have answered your question.
If further any question I will help.
GOOD LUCK.
Dr. HET

Hi thanks for using HCM.

55 year old, hypertension since 7 years, on medication but not controlled.
Since diabetes also there she should take ACEi/ARB and other drugs in combination to it. If her BP is uncontrolled then consult your doctor to modify the does or to add to it.(Same physician who is treating her)
Diabetes and thyroid problem.
Sleep disturbance and dry mouth may be due to uncontrolled diabetes or thyroid problrem. Here breathlessness at night may be due to reflux or respiratory or cardiac problem. Get done her TSH, FBS, PPBS, HbA1c, lipid profile, echocardiography and renal function test once. Also consult nutritionist for the right amount of calories and type of food to be taken. If any problem we can treat and can also prevent any problem to occur. Hope this answered your query. Wish you and your mother good health.

Take care.
Regards
Dr.Lohit
