Dear friend, firstly i would like to confirm whether you are truly hypertensive because though High BP is not impossible at this age it could be due to various other factors which would confirm you to be having Hypertension like familial history, stress, anxiety, high cholesterol.
once this is confirmed and the medication is decided to be given, the BP will regularise ,but knowing the fact of emotional incident you had, it is quite possible that the palpitations were attributed to the stress or anxiety you had due to the emotional effect. ofcourse , enalpril also has side effects of tachycardia, but if the symptoms do persist of tachycardia(palpitation) without emotional incident, then we could consider the cause to be enalpril and we would consider for the change of the drug.
i would recommend you to relax yourself, take deep breathing exercises which would vitalise your brain, and if it was my patient then i would advice him to get anti anxiety like alprazolam 0.50 mg for two weeks and tapering it to 0.25 mg for another 2 weeks , whereby the mind would be relaxed and the BP would stabilise. In case if the BP still remains high then i would advice for some blood investigations and also lastly but not the least, i would advice you to reduce your intake of salt .
in case you are not satisified with my answer please feel free to ask further questions and if you are satisified then please give me rating stars.
