Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I was admitted for low grade fever over 25 days, stiff neck headache, swollen glands, high BP & tachardia. Pulse has been 100-140 & having tachardia. Resting pulse is over 100. After doing labs, cultures, CT scan & X-ray Lp everything came back normal. The doctors believe its a viral infection & are discharging me today. My question is should I be concerned having tachardia & heart palpitations? Docs say its caused by viral infection.
Any type of trigger which acts as a stress to the body stimulate our sympathetic system which causes increase in heart rate as well as increases bp.
Infection is also a type of stressful event which also increase the rate and bp. So do not worry for your increased rate, it will settle down by itself once your infection gets cured.
Regards
