Hysteroscopy Showed Open Ostia. Advised Cervical Encirclage During Pregnancy. Due To Cervical Dilation?

I had a diagnostic laparoscopy & a hysteroscopy couple of months ago. And now iam 8 weeks pregnant. Post-hysteroscopy the doc said both my ostia (external & internal) were open & i was advised a cervical encirclage at around 12 weeks of pregnancy. My question is whether this (open ostia)is the result of the cervical dilation done during hysteroscopy. Is there any chance i don t need the cerclage? Can there be a recheck to see if my cervix is fine?

Hello
Thanks for your query. You are in 8 weeks pregnancy and prior to this you had undergone Hysteroscopy and your Dr has advised you for what is called as Os Tightening This is a condition in which internal Os is not closed completely and tone of the Os is lax and remains partially open As the pregnancy advances this may open further and sometimes results into premature labor..So it is better to get it tightened in second trimester of pregnancy to prevent premature labor. The tightened Os is opened prior to full term This can not be due to the dilatation of the Os one while doing Hysteroscopy.as whatever dilatation is done gets closed in a week.
