Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 33 years old with somewhat of a complex Medical history. My current issue is that I've had bilateral pedal edema since the week before Easter. My Heart rate has been running higher lately in the range of 90-106 where it used to be better controlled at 56-76. I Take metoprolol tartrate 25mg once daily and spironolactone 50mg -half tab once daily. This is a switch because I used to take the metoprolol twice daily but my PCP cut me down to one per day when she added the spironolactone in. My blood pressures have been running low 100's and 90's over 60's and 50's. Labs look great-negative for kidney (GFR greater than 60) or liver issues(liver enzymes all normal) . Normal BUN and Creatinine. No diabetes. EKG and chest X-ray normal and negative for clots. Doppler of both Legs negative for clots. CT of brain was normal because I was having some dizziness from the blood pressure being on the lower end of normal. Heart rate a little on the fast side and do feel short of breath from time to time. I would say easily winded for sure. Feeling really cold all the time. TSH normal and T4 a hair low but not enough for the endocrinologist to do anything about. Seeing cardiology in June, but swelling is ridiculous! Compression stockings have been ordered. Why am I still retaining all of this fluid if everything is "normal" and what can I do in the meantime to help it? June seems so far away for a cardiology consult.
