Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 51 years old. Have had 2 vaginal deliveries one of them >10 lbs. In the last 8 years I have been bothered with some stress incontinence. I was fitted with a pessery and on a scale of 1-10 ( low to high) I would rank my concerns a 3. I could jog and run some days with not a dripping a drop of urin and other days i would be soaked. It has noting to do with the amount of fluid i would drink.I have always told my Dr I felt like it was related to my menstrual cycle but never got a logical explanation about its probability. I have been on a BCP for >30 years with 2x 2 year breaks to get pregnant. My menses are so significant that my HG can drop from a healthy 13.5 to 8.5 during one menses. I have sever a large fibroids which may well be the cause for my heavy bleadings. So staying on the BCP was a decision that I had to endure for health reasons. 6 months ago I stopped my BCP and wanted to see where I was with my menopause hoping I might have stopped having periodes. However that is not the case and I just finished one of my worst bleeding ever. During those 6 months of NO BCP my stress incontinence went from a 3 to a 9 or 10. I had to wear an incontinence with a pessery and was wet daily. I have given up jogging or running and just nice stroll would have me loose enough urin that I had to change my pads. Because of this crazy bleeding I went back on the BCP after the 6 month break and my urin incontinence went back to a 3. I can jog again but as before it comes and goes with my hormone levels. Does this make any sense to any of you? Please explain.
