Hello Ma'm,
For a woman of your age, an MRI of the spine would pick up some disc prolapses. However its important to check whether these protruded discs are compressing your nerves. This can be confirmed by an MRI. A pure disc prolapse without nerve compression could only be one of the 'n th' causes of back pain. If you have developed weakness or numbness in your legs or lost urinary or bowel control, its a red flag sign; visit an Orthopaedician/spine surgeon soon.
If not, strengthen your back muscles by simple exercises for the back or yoga. I hope the possibility of tumor or infection have been ruled out.
