Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 6 weeks and 4 days pregnant with type 2 diabetes. I take 32 units of NPH in the morning, 32 units before bed and take Humalog before meals of 12 units plus a sliding scale of 2 units per every 50 points, so 14 units for a blood sugar reading between 101-150. Today my blood sugar was 59 2 hours after eating oatmeal. I corrected it with a cookie and it went up to 92 in 15 minutes. I then took 12 units of insulin and ate an apple with peanut butter and goldfish crackers, around 40g carbohydrates. An hour later my blood sugar was 70. This is very abnormal for me as my sugars have not been this low before and I am concerned this could mean the fetus has died and my body is no longer requiring the additional insulin.
