I Am 68 Yrs Old And My Left Hand Has

I am 68 yrs old and my left hand has been continuously getting more swollen every day. I have carpal tunnel and arthritis , but I don't know if it should be this swollen or painful. I can't even press on it. Also, my shoulder on that side is aching. I used to go to gym 5 days a week, but my husband fell ill in March and I haven't been able to exercise since.
