Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 76 years old. My left hip started giving me trouble some 8-9 years ago. I got different opinions of different doctors ranging from you should have had hip replacement yesterday to wait till you find it difficult to do certain movements like sqatting etc. I think the time has come now as the pain bothers me and I find it difficult to walk comfortably . But what has led me to ask for your opinion is that the pain is no longer in the left hip region only but in the whole hip cage as if my muscles are jammed. I am not comfortable at night in any position that I try to sleep in. When and if I take a painkiller at night I can cope better the following day. However the effect of painkillers seems to be reducing rapidly.please advise what remedial action I should take now.Ashok.
