Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 77 years old and fell from my bicycle approximately 48 hours ago. My right arm, shoulder and the right temple of my head struck the pavement. The injuries seemed minor but I had a brain hemmorage about 15 years ago and I'm at greater risk. Although the head pain was very minor when I fell, I immediately put an ice pack on my temple and took a small dose of ibuprofen. I continued the ice pack every 30 minutes for the next 36 hours and took a second small dose of ibuprofen. I had a minor episode of lightheadedness after about 40 hours, but I had just finished coffee and had not eaten anything yet. I currently still have no pain or unusual symptoms and its been about 50 hours since the accident. I'm wondering if a significant risk still exsists because of the blow to the temple or my age, or given the passage of 48 hours without any further development should I not need to seek medical attention?
