I Am A 33 Year Old Male. Good Health, Avid

I am a 33 year old male. Good health, avid runner. In June, I went to the ER following a week of pain in my lower abdomen. A CT scan showed that I had an abscess in my colon, and I was diagnosed with diverticulitis. I had a procedure the next morning, and the doctor put in a drain. I stayed in the hospital for 5 days on IV antibiotics. I was released with prescriptions for Flagyl and Cipro. I have been felling much better, but the last two weeks have had constant diarrhea. The last few days, I have had a bloody mucus in my stool.

The surgeon who did the procedure told me not to worry, and said that I should get a colonoscopy before Christmas. This latest development is freaking me out. What should I do?
