Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 58 year old female from NY who felt pain in my right big toe all day. As my day was so busy I didn't check it (until now) and chalked it up to a possible in-grown toenail, as I hadn't had a pedicure in 3 1/2 weeks. When I took off my Coach loafers (always wearing good comfortable shoes) I looked at my toe in the light a noticed a maroon-colored bruising around the front of my toe situated right below the nail (not under the nail itself but below the cuticle on the skin. The bruising spans from the middle of the cuticle around toward the right side of the toe to in between the big toe and the 2nd toe. There appears to be no swelling just bruise which also covers part of the toe joint. I developed a Charlie horse I my right thigh as I was limping most of the day and didn't know it until several people pointed it out to me. What is this? I don't remember injuring it. Is it broken or a sprain? Could I have injured it in my sleep?? how could this kind of thing happened and how do I treat it? Thank you in advance for your opinion and guidance. Susan G.
