I Am A 58 Year Old Male. When I Feel

I am a 58 year old male. When I feel the urge to urinate, but put off going until the urge is great, I will often not be able to begin the flow (like a blockage) and have extreme pain in my urethra. It may take 1 to 3 minutes for the flow to begin; sometimes longer. The pain is not constant, but comes and goes. Once I am able to begin urination, the pain goes away. There is no painful urination; only pain while waiting for it to begin. This only happens when my bladder is full and I have put off going to the bathroom.
