Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 60 yr old female with history of kidney stones since 1978. Was told my first stone was size of a walnut. Always excruciating pain & nausea. So many stones I have lost count. Previous urologist always performed retrogrades & cystoscopy to remove stones as unable to pass them. Also have had 2 stents placed but removed due to terrible pain. Unfortunately my urologist retired. Current urologist actually said my medical history is BS. Sept 2014 performed exploritory surgery. Results were 15-3mm stones in both kidneys & right kidney appears mangled but no answers & no treatment. Since 06/15 treated 3 times for infections with Cipro & Phenazopyridine. CT Scan on 08/11/15 showed 2 stones - 1 in each ureter. Could not get appt until 08/25/15 so was advised to go to ER on 08/21/15. CT Scan in ER showed 2 stones again. ER gave IV meds. Appt with urologist on 08/25/15 doctor unable to locate either CT Scan. Said stones are 3mm & not possible to have any symptoms. Experiencing severe leg swelling since 02/15 with extreme HBP (178/121 even with 4 BP meds) & HR 94. Had 4 DVTs in past & diagnosed PVD. His plan is for diagnostic uteroscopy, possible Laser Litho & stents. He does not believe my past kidney stone experiences & is very reluctant to treat. Cardiologist did complete work-up & feels kidney issues are cause of all other problems. Not comfortable with new urologist. Advise please!! Thank you.
