Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a diabetic and have been on insulin since 1998. I inject Humulin N (and R when needed) in the morning and evenings. I am highly insulin resistant. I have been injecting into lower stomach for all these years. I heard insulin is a fat storage hormone. Is it likely that because of the resistance, that the fat has been forming on my upper and lower abdomen. It is extremely distended. The upper abdomen looks like an inflated balloon, and lower rests on my upper thighs when I sit. What can I do to fix this problem. I am also 76 yrs old and have osteoporosis. So far Kaiser Permanente has no solutions. I would appreciate your good advice.
