I Am Experiencing Chest Pain In The Heart Area, Why It Is Happening ?

I was in class watching a movie when suddenly, pain was coming from the left side of my chest in my heart area. It lasted for about 5-10 minutes and then it was gone. I m pretty sure my top left arm near my shoulder was hurting as well. It hurt breathing in like sharp pain. I had to massage it. Last time I checked my cholestrol was few months ago and it was 178. I m 18 and normal weight. What could this be?

Though the symptoms told by you suggests it to be heart attack, i feel you need not get worried too much and it may be gastric pain also. I am telling this because of your tender age and you being female. However it is highly essential you see a cardiologist and have a EKG done which will reveal the action happening and position. For your information i am giving below the general symptoms of Heart attack.- Common signs and symptoms of a heart attack include: - Pressure, fullness or a squeezing pain in the center of your chest that lasts for more than a few minutes - Pain extending beyond your chest to your shoulder, arm, back, or even to your teeth and jaw - Increasing episodes of chest pain - Prolonged pain in the upper abdomen - Shortness of breath - Sweating - Impending sense of doom - Fainting - Nausea and vomiting You have reported the first two symptoms and it is worrying. Please have an immediate check up. Wish you all the best. -
