I Am Having Some Complicated Issues With Thyroid Replacement Hormones.
I am having some complicated issues with thyroid replacement hormones. A specialist prescribed 65 mg. of Tirosint and the reactions were extreme! I was currently taking 100 mcg. (which was too high) of the name brand Synthroid as I am definitely allergic to the generic form. The doctor then changed me over to Nature throid at a dose of 48.75 mg. and I returned in 8 wks. and was only asked if I was tired and when I answered yes he increased the Nature throid to 65 mg. and within 2 wks. I called and the dose was lowered back to the 48.75 mg. I am a mess and insurance will not pay for the nature throid. I know the thyroid issue is a process. Why he prescribed the Tirosint I am uncertain. I do not think I am allergic to the name brand Synthroid, but that the dosage was too high thus the side effects were unbearable. I have now been referred back to my PCP as the specialist had no answers to my questions or just didn't want to bother to even try to help which is why I was referred to an Endocrinologist to begin with. My PCP and I are both rather confused. I will be asking my PCP for more extensive blood work which she will do. I am not myself at all-much like a grizzly bear with a sore paw. Probably TMI, but I would like to have my real self back again. Any suggestions for this personality change? It is thyroid related I just cannot seem to get any results with the specialist. I was treated for Hyperthyroidism when I was 28 yrs. and had no problems until 2013 and things keep getting worse. Thank you.
