I am scheduled for a a acdf on January 13. There is significant reason to have this surgery as I have seen the MRI Results. However, most of my pain is in the lower back and buttocks which my orthopedic surgeon diagnosed as an SI joint problem, possible as stress resulting from a fusion of 4 and5 lumbar. The neurosurgeon has recommended that I have the ACDF in hopes that it may reduce the pain which could or could not be SI joint pain. The pain I have in the Lowe back is 5 times worse than the neck pain so I am concerned that if I have this surgery and it does nothing for the lower back pain then what is the purpose of having the neck surgery.
