I Am Taking Metoprolol ER 25 Mg Once A Day,

I am taking metoprolol ER 25 mg once a day, I was taking for heart palpitations, I started taking it 2 years ago. Let me start at the beginning, I am HIV positive, have aortic regurgitation and have bi cuspid aroitic valve and have activity induced asthma. When I got to he asthma I started using advair and this along with taking one of my HIV meds caused a serious reaction making the med magnify in my body. Therefore making my cortisol level increase giving me heart palpitations so I have been taking the metaprolol 25 ER. Since then my HIV med changed and the steroid level in my body has decreased and my body weight has returned to normal level. Today my blood pressure was 95/55 and my pulse was 57. Didn't take the the beta blocker today and want to know can I just stop taking it and how long does it stay in your body ??
Thanks
Jimmy
