I banged my lower shin pretty badly last week. As expected, it left a nasty bruise, which has spread down into my foot and ankle, along with, what I consider, moderate swelling. I have no pain in the foot or ankle, unless you press firmly on the swollen areas. The swelling does seem to go down when I elevate the foot, and after a night's sleep. My question is - should I be concerned? Also, what should I be doing to help the healing process? I like to get in some cardio 3-4 times per week, via treadmill, elliptical trainer, and recumbent bike. Should I postpone my workouts until swelling has receded?
