I believe you charge for any questions answered. I am presently in argument with my doctor who does not want to prescribed .05 mg Ativan for me any longer. One changes doctors thru the years. I have taken 0.5 mg Ativan nightly for past 33 years; I am 78 years old and very active, mentally and physically. It has always worked for relaxation from back pain, neck pain, perpherial neuropathy (non-diabetic) and fibromylgia. Doctor prescribed trazadone 50 mg. nightly and I am afraid to take after reading the adverse side effects and I have Afib, Sleep Apnea and moderate aortic regurgitation for the past two years I have know about the heart problems. I do not have depression or anxiety at all, when I get my good nights sleep by taking 0.5 Ativan I am relaxed, sleep and feel good and active 12 or more hours every day. In the interaction checker it shows the very same between oxycodone and trazadone or oxycodone and Ativan "don't use together 0, Serious, 0, monitor closely, 1, and minor 0 as listed for adverse drug interactions. There is a FDA black box warning on trazadone and pages of adverse side effects for trazadone, especially I am concerned about what it can do adversely to one's heart. It says be sure to tell your doctor if you have heart disease before you take trazadone. I have irregular heart beats and I am scared to take a drug, especially a new drug that lists adverse effects to the heart. I do not have any of the problems that trazadone is suppose to help. My blood tests, including 100% score on oxygen, are great doctors tell me after test results are in, no liver, no kidney problems; I have structural problems with my back and neck caused back in 1965 when a vehicle hit our vehicle in the rear end at 55+ mph when we were stopped at a stop sign, driver had been gazing at the scenery and hit us full speed. The osteopathic doctor told me I had a weak constructed back prior to that and told me he would not advised me to do water skiing when I was age 23, but I did house building, lifting heavy sheetrock, etc. and then worked at a desk for 32 years as a secretarial assistant to top management and had to always have 2 jobs, did real estate at night and weekends and I still can't slow down despite my age and structural pain, so I am upset as the doctor will no longer prescribe telling me I'm old and may fall, what, fall out of bed at night as that is only time I take the 0.5 mg. Ativan; many days I do not take doctor's 2.50 mg. of oxycodone; if I can go a week or more and use heat packs, icy hot and have chance to rest.lye down more, I do that and do not take the pain med only as last resort, but I always every night take my 0.5 mg Ativan. I have never smoked in my entire life; I do not drink any kind of alcohol and very little socially 30 plus years ago. I asked the doctor to prove to me that 0.5 mg. over past 33 years has damaged me; show me on my health tests where you can blame anything on Ativan. I have taken the oxycodone on very limited basis and the Ativan (never both at same time of day; always leave at least 12 hours apart and take both with food for the past 4 years and I have never fallen, my health tests all come back great, so why do these doctors want you off something that has proven thru the years to work perfect for me. People tell me,even a pharma doctors that this big cleanup that's going on now on controlled and illegal drugs has caused problems for us older folks who need them and don't abuse them and are doing fine. I won't take anything over the drug counter, no cold meds, allergy meds, Tylenol, aleve and I see folks loading their carts with all that bad junk I feel for them. Some folks I know take 8 Tylennol, swallow those big pills down plus other over counter pills and I think at their young age they are going to ruin their kidneys and liver before they reach 50. People also tell me that the doctors are getting afraid of prescribing controlled substances and the doctor I see now said Trazadone is not a controlled substance, perhaps FDA made a mistake in not making it a controlled substance when its adverse side effects are worse than that of Ativan. People say doctors are afraid and now trying to protect their butts and their medical license so they want you to take a non-controlled substance; perhaps FDA will change Ativan to a non-controlled substance when another person there gets in charge of making decisions. If you have any substantiating evidence that for some folks are better off with Ativan than with Trazadone then I'm willing to pay for that statement.
