Hello Mr.Holland
Welcome to HealthcareMagic. The pain you mentioned could be due to tendonitis or synovitis, carpal tunnel sundrome( compression of nerve), due to osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, some vascular problem.Hypothyroidism also might cause a compression of certain nerves causing this kind of pain. It could even be, as you mentioned, unheeled fracture( a scaphoid/colles fracture) or due to a malunion of the old fracture. A baseline Xray would help to some extent, although all abnormalities are seldom seen on Xray. Your orthopedician would guide you if an MRI/ CT scan is mandated.Avoid exessive us.e of the affected part. Please take advice of an orthopedician.Hope my advice is usefull enough for you. Wish you sooner recovery.Take care
