I Had A Turp Three Weeks Ago At Local Veterans

I had a Turp three weeks ago at local Veterans Hospital. Starting my 4th week tomorrow. Sent home next day with foley for 8 dasy. Low stream and 7 days later after removal - could not void with extreme pain. Back to ER and they had to reinsert foley and advised to consult my urologist for a follow-up, After attempting to reach the urology department and get an appointment and many calls, my dr finally called and said only 5/24/18 available and though after looking at my records, it would be better to keep the foley in for that 3 week period anyway. I and anxious and furious as to why. It is now 1-1/2 weeks with second foey and no clots, no blood etc. so I do not understand why the extended time frame and would like it removed. Should I see a doctor outside of the VA Hospital. Or is this a normal precaution. I am afraid of a possible infection or my bladder becoming so week it will no longer function. Thanks for any help.
