I had a baby 6 months ago and recently, my heart rate has been up more after pushing it at the gym. Even my resting heart rate has. Right after the baby for a few months, it was fine. Now I'm having skipped heart beats. Tonight, I realized when I put my fingers on the area where I think mycarotid arteries are, I can feel a sensation that feels like whooshing or water running along with my pulse. Is this cause for concern? JA: Do you know if your family has a history of heart disease? In general, how would you describe your health lately? Customer: Nobody really has heart disease. My mom is on meds for high bp and her brother died of a blocked artery when he was 41, and he was very overweight and unhealthy, but that's all that we've had happen in the family. Besides that, I'm usually very active and work out. I do zumba but lately, my heart rate has spiked higher when exercising and my resting heart rate doesn't want to go below 100 to 110. It's gone to the 80s twice in the last few days and that's it. JA: Anything else in your medical history you think the doctor should know? Customer: I'm on medication for thyroid and have had hypothyroidism since I was a teen but it stayed leveled through pregnancy and it was checked three times after and it was fine. The only other thing was my iron was low after birth and shortly afterwards, as well.
