Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a slight year in my meniscus and had surgery 10 days ago. I also had quite a bit of arthritis so he cleaned that out as well. Every since I tore my meniscus I have had trouble with swollen feet. Since the surgery my foot is very swollen and there is pain and much bruising in my ankle and working it's way around my whole foot and into the toes. The worse pain though is in my calf and behind my knee. When I went back to the doc he sent me for an ultra sound to check for a blood clot and it was negative. If I keep my leg up and iced the swelling gets better but when I do get up the pain on my calf it really bad. If I walk a lot the calf pain gets bearable but the foot swells. It this normal? What is best to do, keep the leg up or walk? The doc did not say to use crutches more than a couple of days.
