Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a surgical abortion on 5/21 (5w6d) the day of the procedure my hcg was around 18,700. On 5/24 I had another blood test an my hcg was 21,700. My doctor called me in for a sonogram. I was the last patient of the day and the sonographer seemed sure I was no longer pregnant before I got on the table, she did the sonogram and confirmed there was no more yoke. I'm still experiencing pregnancy symptoms. Why would by hcg levels be higher after the procedure. Could the sonographer have missed something? Should I seek a second opinion or wait three weeks for the follow up I scheduled with my doctor? Is it common for hcg levels to be higher three days after termination?
