I Had An Intramedullory Rod Placed In My Tibia After

I had an intramedullory rod placed in my tibia after a car accident. I broke both the tibia and fibula clean through. Now it's been a little over a year and especially in winter the pain is still here. It really hurts bad around the break and also the knee cap. It causes me to limp and when it gets inflamed I can barely walk. I've stopped seeing my surgeon and also no longer take any pain medication. I'm 19. Is there any recommendations on what I should do? It does seem to be chronic pain as the x rays don't show a particular reason for the pain. The bones have healed. Thank you for any help you may give!
