I Had An Open Compound Fx. To My Left Tibia

I had an open compound fx. To my left tibia and fibula 2 years ago. It failed to fuse and in Nov. they put in a larger rod from my knee to my ankle. Afterwards my incision devised and have been receiving care for that. The Dr I saw thinks there is bacteria on the rod and felt like it needed to be removed and replaced, not his specialty. He sent me to another surgeon who said it would need to be replaced but when he did surgery he just removed 2 screws and plastic surgeon did skin graft. 4 days after surgery woke up in extreme pain, boils now ? MRSA could that have stirred up infected rod which caused this?
