I Had Been Taking Allopurinol Daily For Several Years For

I had been taking allopurinol daily for several years for gout flares, then Doctor took me off of it because he said it was poison to the body. He then prescribed colcrys for my flares, which I've been taking for several years now. This past week I was diagnosed with severe kidney failure so no more colcrys. Could taking these two medicines for such a time cause my kidney failure. I have no other factors that would cause kidney failure like diabetes, etc. I'm on my 5th day of another severe gout attack and finally let the kidney doctor know and she prescribed a regimen of prednisone.
