I had liver transplant on May 15 1999 and have been taking neoral and myfortic to stop me from rejecting the liver ever since. I now need a hip replacement sometime in the near future. What has been done in the past to maintain immunosuppression levels during and after the surgery? What kind of measures are taken to monitor infection? If infection does occur what can be done to stop it from killing me? Any help you may be able to provide in terms of answers to these questions would help allieviate the apprehension I have about the hip replacement. Thanks for whatever you may be able to tell me at this point in time and I am used to being told that there are some situations with transplants that cant be predicted.
