I Had Open (not Laparoscopic) Right Side Inguinal Hernia Surgery

I had open (not Laparoscopic) right side inguinal hernia surgery 8 weeks ago. After surgery there was normal puffiness but after one week a hard mass developed in the place where the hernia was. This was apparently due to dripping fluid and now there is a hard ball that looks like a tumor. The doctor said it would eventually go away over time but 3 weeks post-procedure tried draining the mass. The fluid was not what I expected to see; dark red (hematoma) or clear (seroma), instead it was the color and density of urine. The mass returned after a few days to the previous size (golf ball size). It can be moved an inch or so in any direction and does not cause pain or discomfort. The mass is still the same size 8 weeks post-procedure. Could the fluid be urine? If so, what could cause this? Should I consider having it removed or continue to wait? Thank you.
