Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had pain in the back of my head for about a week and then it moved to the bone behind my right ear. I went to a grocery store clinic on New Year's Day. She said I had impacted wax and removed it using a trigger spray bottle, baby shampoo and cold water and then some kind of pick. It hurt so badly I screamed, threw up and nearly passed out. She said I had an ear infection she could see after removing the wax and put me on Amoxicillin 875mg for 10 days. I started having panic attacks due to the pressure and clogged feeling. During those 10 days I had the clogged/wet feeling off and on but little to no pain. Now 4 days after finishing the antibiotics I woke up with a horrible pain in my right ear. I went back to the clinic and saw a different NP. She told me my ears were clear but had a lot of fluid in both. She prescribed Ciprodex drops and benadryl at bedtime. Does this sound like the correct treatment? I tried popping my ears today and now the right one hurts and they are both clogged! I wasn't having problems with my left one until today. Also, I haven't started the ear drops because I am scared to death of getting a wet feeling or more pain.
