I Had Preventive Irodotomy In Both Eyes Due To Narrow

I had preventive irodotomy in both eyes due to narrow angle and prescribed Combigan (Timolol + Brimonidine) eye drops twice a day in each eye which I have been taking for the last 11 months - 4 months before Irodotomy and 7 months since irodotomy). Now the doctor has asked me to stop Combigan and start Alphagan Z (Brimonidine + Stabilized Oxychloro) as a step towards discontinuation of medicines. My question is whether Combigan can be stopped suddenly (and Alphagan Z) started or it has to be tapered off (as Timolol is a beta blocker). If it can be stopped suddenly, what precautions, if any, are required to be taken?
Thanks
