I Had Sepsis Several Years Ago After A Kidney Stone

I had sepsis several years ago after a kidney stone and lithotripsy and I ran a high fever for several days while in the hospital on IV antibiotics. Since then when I get "sick" witha cold or flu and have fever like symptoms, chills, feeling hot, tender skin all over, my body temperature shows on the thermometer to be in the 96 range...lower than normal. Is this a common occurence to have a non-fever? It makes it very difficult to answer when I'm asked "are you running a fever?"
