I Had Sever Pain In The Back Of My Left

I had sever pain in the back of my left knee today there is bruising that looks like broken blood vessels. my leg aches down the back of my calf and up the back of my thigh. It hurts to go up or down stairs. Is this something that will heal itself or should I be concerned?
