I have MGUS. The abnormal protein is IgM. At the moment it is at a low level. i am due to have a total hip replacement. One of the side effects of hip implants is that the implant materials can wear and cause debris to accumulate - either metal or plastic depending on the type of implant - or eg metal ions in the bloodstream Does this have any implications for my MGUS condition. is it irrelevant or do I need to take care because it could worsen MGUS and hasten a transition to Lymphoma or Myeloma
