I Have A Clear Blob In My Eye That's Irregular

I have a clear blob in my eye that's irregular shaped, surrounded by a lot of redness. Unless I constantly put eye drops in, it gets redder and redder and sometimes it hurts. The eye doctor said I should just live with it but since I work with kids a lot ,it bothers them and the parents. Should I get this removed?
