I Have A Dental Problem. There Is A Bone Growing

I have a dental problem. There is a bone growing out of my gum below my #18 tooth in the back of my mouth. The bone is sharp, pointy and highly visible. A similar bone near this spot was cut out a week ago. Another began growing 2 days after the oral surgery and 5 days later is highly visible. The surgeon is waiting another week for the first incision to heal before performing the second surgery. What is happening to cause this and is there a medical term which it is labeled so I can research?
