Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a mass in my diaphragm that is 5-7 cm in diameter. At first, they thought it was a mass in my lung from the initial chest x-ray. I went to my GP because I had been having pain in my right side under my breast for a couple of months. She thought that it was just a muscle pull and advised me to take it easy. I went back to her a few weeks ago as I was still in pain and when I bent over, it felt like something was trying to get out of my chest. I felt like I was in the movie Alien and that something was going to burst out of my chest. At first they thought cancer but all the test were negative and then they thought hernia after a chest and abdominal CT scan. I went to a thoracic surgeon who said it was not cancer, not a hernia and was a mass of fat. He said to wait three months to see if it gets bigger and have another CT scan. In the meantime, I don't know what to do about the pain besides Advil or Tylenol. I'm not happy about waiting but neither the specialist or my GP were too concerned and again advised me to take it easy.
