I Have A Mentally Challenged Sister Who Will Not Swallow Her Food
I have a mentally challenged sister who will not swallow her food. she had a bug three days ago and vomited once. I gave her gravol and advil. Now she won t swallow .. she eats so much and then she start playing with it in her mouth and won t swallow it?? she said her throat doesn t hurt
Hi, Nice to see that you take care of your sister wonderfully. Here are my advises which you might find helpful: 1. Rule out any chance of infection (fever) that might cause indigestion and decrease appetite. 2. Try changing the consistency of food and make it more palatable. 3. If she has symptoms of gastritis (belching) try giving some antacids. 4. Has she been dewormed off late? 5. If she has nausea (that makes her hate any food) try feeding after some drugs like Tab. Ondansetron that is available as mouth dissolving form (it will dissolve in mouth once kept in mouth/no need to swallow and bring down vomiting).
If symptoms persists consult a physician. Hope I have answered your queries. Feel free to write if you need further clarifications. May your sister get well soon.
