I have abnormal excessive sweating with the slightest movements and even without moving. I have headaches on and off that travel all around my head and eyes for the past 9 months after feeling like i was getting a head cold. my esr and crp were elevated and i was diagnosed with giant cell arteritis. i was put on 60 mg of prednisone and my symptoms came back even on the prednisone. a bilateral temporal artery biopsy was incorrectly done and showed no results. My doctor now says i must get off the steroid which i have been on for 6 months. I am tapering down but am overwhelmed with the symptoms of headache, fatigue, fluctuations in blood pressure going very low, rising blood sugar, and the list goes on to include nervousness, tingling finger tips, generalized weakness, irritability, and more. I am tapering the prednisone by 2 mg every 2 weeks but at this rate it will take months to get off this drug. The endocrinologist says that not tests can be done for 2 months after off all steroids, I feel that I will be dead by then at the rate this is going. I dont know what to do, every day is like hell. After it is all done and I am off the steroids, then the doctors have to re-evaluate the original diagnosis of GCA. what do I do?
