I Have Always Had A Bulging Vein On My Hip

I have always had a bulging vein on my hip right by my right hip bone. My parents say I have had it since I was born. It has never really bothered me until lately it is very sore and feels bruised. It also appears darker than normal. Is this something I should be concerned about?
