I have been batteling with chronic sinus infections since 2009. Antibiotics, steroids, and 3 sinsus surgeries did not help, it just weakened my immune system to the point that I am unable to work. I also had a chronic cough that turned out to be caused by constant post-nasal drip. I had a lung biopsy which turned out fine but I ended up with pseudomonus aerugosa in my lungs. I was treated in the hospital for 7 days with Azectam IV and tobramicin inhalation treatment. After about 2 weeks, my sinus infection returned and I ended up having another surgery. That was in September of 2013 and since then I am battling infections monthly ans my polipa keep growing again. Within the last 2 months, I was diagnosed with heavy grown of pseudomonus aerugosa in sinuses which is getting worse day to day. I am finishing 2 weeks of Cipro 1500mg daily (allergic to Levaquin) and 10 days of topical tobramicin mixed with saline solution. There is no improvement and I am getting worse day to day. I am weak, 100% congested, especialy at night, no stamina or energy and very uncomfortable.
What would be my next step to get better? I see an ID doctor who suggested 8-10 weeks of Cipro but I have bad side effects from the medication and don't want to compromise my immune system even more. The other option by my ENT was an IV treatment for a month. My allergist tested me from head to toe and all the tests are fine. I don't have any allergies, except food and antibiotic.
Any thoughts or ideas how I can get better? I would appreciate any advice. Thank you.
