Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been battling what I felt was fluid in my ear for over 3 weeks. Went to my Primary Doc as well as 2 trips to urgent care both felt it was fluid. No infection noted. Was tried on Claritin and Flonase then Q Nasal an antibiotic and Vistaril to help both my severe anxiety and to act as an antihistamine. Not much help. Right ear still felt full and I had been hearing my heartbeat in my ear. Went to ENT he examined both ears no fluid found..no tumors found. Very little ear wax. Did note in my affected ear my ear drum didn't move as much as he would like..he said it could be from not getting a good seal with the otoscope that blows air or could have always been like that. I'm not a person who has ever had ear issues. Audiology also tested for fluid none found and no hearing loss noted. He said I had a benign venous hum a form of pulsatile tinnitus that could go away as quickly as it occurred. No treatment recommended other then to talk to my Primary about stress and anxiety as this ear issue has consumed me. A week later the pulsing comes and goes. Is quiet and times is loud at times. Ear still feels full/ clogged and can't seem too "pop" that ear drum. Worried he has missed something with my Eustachian tubes perhaps. I mean doesn't your ear drum need to move to hear? I'm 45 female. 5'1 184 pounds. Other than total cholesterol being 11 points over normal limit and vitamin d deficient all labs normal. BP always runs about 120/70 73 unless super anxious. I have extreme stress and anxiety over this and I wondering if I'm creating the ear fullness like psychosomatic issues or he has truly not done enough work up. I would appreciate your opinion
