I Have Been Diagnosed With RA For About 7 Years.

I have been diagnosed with RA for about 7 years. Tried Methotrexate, which did very little except make me feel totally tired constantly. Been on Plaquinil for 4 years which has very few side effects. Arava did nothing and upon trying Sulfasalizine, my stomach was always upset. Steroid packs give temporary relief but. never lasting and I know they treat the symptoms rather than the cause. Aleve etc helps too. I've had more inflammation in the last year and many joint aches which keep me up at night (hips, hands, ankles and feet.) This year I've developed a very inflamed finger on my right hand which does not go away as it used to. I am able to still play/teach piano and teach tennis but feel much more pain afterward. I remain active daily but usually through much pain. Remicade has been suggested to me and I am really afraid of some of the side effects mentioned in the reviews. I'm a believer in modern medicine and science but also like to explore homeopathic/ nutritional solutions thoroughly as well. Tried acupuncture which helped somewhat and I have greatly benefitted from PT over the years. Want to make an intelligent decision about starting a biologic. Want to feel certain that I have exhausted all other options as I had surgery/ radiation treatment in 2012 for DCIS. Appreciate input--Carolyn Shaner
